Walking tour in terengganu??
I’m quiet surprise when I know that in
Terengganu we all can also walk and seeing all the very interesting places. I
just thing that only in Melaka and Penang that tourist can walk while
sightseeing but my eyes were open after know this information so, I want to
share with your guys also:
The walking route are started at the
dazzling white Abidin mosque and only 2km long.
1 1 ABIDIN MOSQUE
The
original wooden mosque on this site was built by Sultan
Zainal Abidin II. This building was completely build in 1808. Since then it has
been rebuilt in brick and refurbished and expanded a number of times. The most
striking feature of this mosque is a 7 storey minaret. Also some formers
Sultans are buried in the adjoining Old Royal Mausoluem.
2 2 MAZIAH PALACE
After
Abidin mosque, the close place nearby is the Maziah Palace(Istana Maziah). This
palace was built between around 1897 and 1903 as a residence and reception
venue for the Terengganu royal family. This place also has been remodeled a
number of times but the most recently is an addition of the two towers flanking
the main entrance. This two tower given it a kind of theme park look. The
palace was not open to the public but people can visit the mini park in front
it.
Next
you can turn left on to Jalan Sultan Zainal Abidin and follow the road until
you can see the Tourist Information Office. In this place you can obtain lots
of information regarding hotels, resorts and famous places nearby.

BAZAAR WARISAN
The
next places near is Bazaar Warisan. This place a newly built shopping
development that contain shop that sell souvenirs, batik, gifts and so on. Take
the escalator(if there are working) up to the roof level and cross over to get
to Princess Hill Fort (Bukit Puteri).
4.
BUKIT PUTERI
Hill
with 200m high has a fort at its summit which was built in the 1830s. this
place was serve as a defensive position during the civil wars between rival
sultans vying for the Terengganu throne. The fort also contains a 10m high
lighthouse and a cement roofed stage in
the shape of athrone. Although most of the cannon there were removed by the
Japanese during WWII but there are still have a few cannons line at this place.
5 SEBERANG TAKIR
The
photo below shown the rustic fishing village of Seberang Takir. You can take a
boat at the jetty in front the Tourist Information Centre Office to take a look
at the village if you want.
6. CENTRAL MARKET (PASAR PAYANG)
This place where the traditional items like batik and silk are sold. Other things such as fruit, vegetables and cooked food product such as keropok lekor also has been sold here.
7. CHINATOWN
After
walk from pasar Payang you can turning into Jalan Kampung Cina and will arrive
at Chinatown area. This place is well known as the cleanest and neatest
Chinatown in Malaysia.teh coloured brick will attract you along the street and
pavements. The side alleys has given a facelit with mural and plaques adding
the heritages feel to this area. The Shophouses
also been restored and carefully painted.
8.
HO ANN KIONG TEMPLE
This temple was build by the immigrants from Hokkien province of China in the years 1796-1821. It was rebuilt in 1915 in an effort to stave off an unknown disease that was ravaging the local here. The disease was disappeared after the temple been rebuilt. This temple also been renovated twice and now it look immaculate with the new carved stone cladding.
On
a small hill opposite is the Royal Mausoleum that be said contain impressive
headstones imported from Acheh in Sumatra. But, this places seem to be
padlocked all the time.
Continuing
walk along the river,there are places that will be transform into a new
Waterfront area. This places will adding a new city’s attractions.
